Updated March 5, 2020
This coming Spring, the global United Methodist Church body will gather for General Conference. General Conference is the only group that makes official decisions or statements for our denomination. From May 5 through May 15 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 862 delegates (half clergy, half laity), elected by their annual conferences will meet together from all over the world. It’s worth noting that 44% of the voting delegates are from outside the United States.
Our denomination is currently in the midst of a unique and challenging time with a strong potential for separation. We want to do our best to share trustworthy resources as plans for the future of the church become public. Below are links to information to help you understand some of the major issues being considered in May. As always, please feel free to reach out to one of the pastors with any questions, comments, or concerns.
