Born and raised in Virginia, Kirk obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory & Henry College and a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University. He has served as a pastor since 1986 throughout Virginia. Raised in a pastor’s home, Winchester is the 14th place in Virginia Kirk has lived.

Kirk was awarded the Excellence in Town and Country Ministry Award by the Virginia Conference in 1994. He also serves on the Virginia Conference Council on Finance and Administration. He is currently a delegate to the Southeast Jurisdictional and General Conferences of the United Methodist Church. Kirk arrived at Braddock Street Church in July 2012. 

Kirk and his wife, Stefanie, are the parents of two adult children, Gary and Maggie, and one granddaughter, Ellie.

It was recently announced that Kirk will be reassigned to serve as the District Superintendent of the Northern Virginia District of the United Methodist Church, beginning July 1, 2024. Our new lead pastor will be announced on April 21, 2024.
