Hailing from Clifton Forge, Virginia, Bill Baber is a distinguished church musician and educator with a deep-rooted passion for music. As the organist at Braddock Street UMC, Bill prepares organ and piano music for worship services, accompanies both adult and children's choirs, and directs rehearsals as needed to support the church’s musical ministry.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree in Church Music, focusing on organ, voice, and piano, and a Master of Music Education degree, both from Shenandoah University. Additional studies at James Madison University and Villanova University have further enriched his expertise. Since 1983, Bill has worked continuously as a church musician and currently teaches elementary music in Loudoun County Public Schools, bringing musical education to students from pre-K through grade 12. His diverse background also includes experience in technology, having managed a music software company and served as a technical trainer at Siemens VDO.
Notable accomplishments include being the highest-rated teacher at Computer Learning Centers across multiple campuses, performing at the Shenandoah University Senior Honors recital, and leading middle and high school choirs to consistent "Superior" ratings at choral festivals. Bill is particularly proud of his roles as a devoted husband to Yongsook and a father to their daughter Sarah.
Previously, Bill was an active member of Winchester Musica Viva and the Arts Chorale of Winchester. His wife, Yongsook, earned her Doctorate in Collaborative Piano from Shenandoah University in 2017, while their daughter Sarah is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Notre Dame. The family also has a beloved 16-year-old dog.
A passionate advocate for music education, Bill has had the opportunity to play historic organs in the UK and Italy, including a notable instrument from around 1520 in Venice. This rich blend of experience and dedication underscores Bill's commitment to fostering musical appreciation and education.
