dIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

Patty Singhass began serving at Braddock Street United Methodist Church full time as the Director of Children’s Ministries in September 2005. She was called to the children’s ministry while working in the Winchester City Schools in special education and serving as the children’s coordinator at BSUMC for more than six years.

Her role at BSUMC is multi-faceted. As the Director of Children's Ministries, she strives to support families and parents in teaching a foundation of faith to their children. Her responsibilities include training and supporting leaders to love, guide, and encourage children in developing relationships with Jesus, all within a safe and loving environment. Patty also serves as the staff liaison to the Early Learning Center.

She completed her studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in 2009 for Certification in Christian Education with the United Methodist Church and in Children’s Ministry. Since then, she has consistently maintained her certification through annual classes with INCM (International Network of Children’s Ministry) and the Children's Pastors Convention.

Before her full-time commitment to BSUMC, Patty dedicated 12 years to early elementary education in the city and county school system. Her previous careers include notable roles in fashion merchandising and marketing, with over 14 years of experience at Belk/Leggett as a women's wear buyer and manager.

Patty loves spending time with family. She and her husband, Scott, have been married for 37 years. They have a daughter, Sydney Orgel, who resides in Richmond, VA, with her husband of six years, John. Patty loves working with flowers, decorating and being outside. The children of Braddock Street are her favorite blessing.

Patty's passion lies in sharing the love of Jesus with children and helping them understand God's story. She is equally passionate about aiding children in need. Beyond her ministry, she finds joy in working with flowers, dogs, and interior design, and considers a fun day as one spent on the beach.
